# Player usage

> What your players see and do in-game — the settings window, the layout editor, and the driving features.

What your players see and do in-game.

## Showing and hiding the HUD

* `/togglehud` flips the whole HUD on or off.
* The HUD hides automatically while the pause menu is open and comes back when it closes.
* On QBCore, ESX, ox\_core, and custom setups (via `Config.Framework`), the HUD also shows on player load and hides on logout.

## The settings window

Open it with `/hudsettings`, or bind a key to **nex\_hud: Open Settings** under **FiveM Settings → Key Bindings → FiveM** (unbound by default). Every change applies live and saves instantly, per player.

| Tab                 | What's in it                                                                                                                                                             |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **General** | Speed unit (mph / kph), distance unit (feet / meters, used for aircraft altitude), clock source (game time or your local time), the 3D skewed style and its skew amount. |
| **Map & Compass** | Compass position (top / bottom / hidden), compass and minimap always-on toggles, postal and elevation toggles. |
| **Player Status** | Rings or bars, and an option to hide maxed-out stats (health always stays visible). |
| **Vehicles** | Gauge or minimal speedometer, speed-limit sign, flash-on-speeding, indicator tick and seatbelt chime sounds. |
| **Player Info** | Per-pill visibility: avatar, voice, server ID, time, job, cash, bank, dirty money. |
| **Weapon** | Weapon HUD toggle, hide melee weapons (on by default), show weapon name. |
| **Import & Export** | Your full configuration — settings and layout — as JSON. Copy it as a backup or share it; importing overwrites your current settings and layout. |
| **Reset** | Reset everything, settings only, or layout only — back to the server's config defaults. |

## The layout editor

Click **Edit Layout** in the top right of the settings window, then:

* **Drag** any HUD element anywhere on screen.
* **Resize** it from the corner handle (0.5× to 2×).
* **Hide** it with the eye toggle.
* Snap-to-grid, undo/redo, then **save** or **discard**.

Movable elements: Player Info, Status, Street & Compass, Speed Sign, Vehicle Cluster, and Weapon. Layouts persist per player.

## Driving

* **Seatbelt** — press `B` to buckle up. While buckled you can't exit the vehicle; unbuckled, a crash above the configured speed ejects you through the windscreen. The belt icon pulses red (with an optional chime) until you buckle.
* **Cruise control** — press `J` while driving at least \~10 mph. The car holds its current speed until you brake, pull the handbrake, toggle it off, drop below \~5 mph, stay airborne for over a second, or leave the driver's seat. Not available on bicycles, boats, aircraft, or trains.
* **Indicators** — `←` / `→` toggle turn signals, `↑` toggles hazards. With auto-cancel on, a signal switches off by itself once you've steered into the turn and straightened out.
* **Vehicle controls menu** — press `F6` in any vehicle for engine, doors, windows, and seat switching. Passengers can only operate their own door and window; only the driver can toggle the engine.
* **Boat anchor** — press `K` while driving a boat. Anchoring only works while the boat is stationary and in open water.
* **Speed-limit sign** — shows the posted limit for the current street next to the minimap and flashes the speedometer red when you exceed it.

## Vehicle clusters

The cluster adapts to what you're driving:

* **Cars and motorcycles** — RPM gauge or a minimal speed pill (your choice), gear indicator, plus a glass strip with fuel, NOS, engine health, headlights, and seatbelt.
* **Bicycles** — a bare speed pill.
* **Boats** — speed plus an anchor chip.
* **Helicopters and planes** — speed and altitude; planes get a stall warning when airborne and slow.
* **Trains** — speed only.

## Weapon HUD

Draw any firearm and a pill shows the weapon name and clip / reserve ammo. Melee weapons are hidden by default (toggle in the **Weapon** tab), and thrown weapons show your full stash as the count.
